Project Cortex - Key Announcements Made at Microsoft Ignite 2019

Talking About Project Cortex – Key Announcements Made at Microsoft Ignite 2019, For all those professional application developers and tech enthusiasts who have been inquisitively waiting for the keynote Microsoft Ignite 2019, there is good news. Microsoft Corporation Chief Operating Officer Satya Nadella unveiled Project Cortex, an artificial intelligence-based knowledge network that automatically organizes the company’s data and content to offer innovative experience.

Microsoft Ignite was organized between 4-8 November 2019 in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center. The major highlights of the conference included Microsoft’s enterprise event for cloud data, business intelligence, and discussions on improving productivity and teamwork collaboration.

Are you excited to know which key announcements grabbed the spotlight at Microsoft Ignite 2019 including Project Cortex?  Let’s find out here.

A Brief Discussion on Project Cortex

Microsoft has unveiled Project Cortex at Ignite 2019. However, the final name will be announced in the first half of 2020. Well, it is a new Microsoft 365 service that uses Artificial Intelligence to shape your organizational data and automatically arrange it to manage content across teams and systems, providing user-friendly shareable knowledge.

In addition to that, it will also make use of the Machine Learning technology to analyze the contracts and documents of repositories including all the third-party applications.

According to Microsoft 365 Corporate Vice President Jared Spataro, “The business organizations might have internal knowledge but it is hard to dig it out. Project Cortex is an efficient tool that will do that efficiently, sharing the most relevant and valuable information with others.”

The message from the software giant is loud and clear that it is willing to invest in enhancing knowledge, which has become the fourth pillar value area for Microsoft 365.

Key Features of Project Cortex

  1. Project Cortex collaborates with Artificial Intelligence to streamline the process of collecting, organizing, and delivering knowledge.
  2. It helps to create topic cards and topic pages across the organization using Microsoft Outlook Teams and Office tools.
  3. It allows you to manage your content and knowledge through the usage of intelligence, security compliance, and workflow.

Currently, Project Cortex is under test and available in its preview version with a few selected Microsoft companies. It is scheduled for release next year.

Introducing the Microsoft  Azure Arc

Microsoft Azure is a major cloud vendor that has always worked to streamline hybrid deployments and protect ASP.NET Web Application Development. Now, with the introduction of Arc, the company has strived to take one step forward, allowing you to seamlessly manage your resources from anywhere, including both Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud.

One of the important features of Microsoft Arc is that it can run on all key operating systems including Windows, Linux, and Kubernetes. You can also take a few limited Azure data to these platforms.

Microsoft previously introduced Azure Stack, which enabled organizations to implement cloud benefits into your data centers. However, Stack is a local version of Azure that operates only on a limited set of hardware.

Talking About Project Cortex – Key Announcements Made at Microsoft Ignite 2019, Arc has removed these limitations to provide you with a single platform for seamlessly managing your resources across large cloud and data centers.  Since most of the large enterprises make use of multiple cloud services, environment management often becomes a challenging task. Microsoft is just offering an effective tool that will keep you in the Azure ecosystem while managing data.

Launching the Endpoint Manager

Microsoft Ignite 2019 Keynote also marked the launch of Endpoint Manager that simplifies the monitoring, securing, and modernizes data management while connecting to the network.

The company is aligning its Intune and ConfigMgr services allowing companies to manage their employee’s laptops, smartphones, tablets, and PCs. Apart from that Microsoft has also planned to introduce various tools and recommendations enabling business enterprises to innovate their deployment solutions. Moreover, those using ConfigMgr services get a license to Intune so that they can migrate to cloud-based management.

You must have heard about enterprise application development, which has given birth to the concept of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).  However, BYOD allowed every single employee to use multiple devices, which often became a challenging aspect for the IT department. For instance, ConfigMgr is used for managing PCs and Intune is used for cloud management.

But with Endpoint Manager coming into the picture, you can have a single view of all your deployments. In fact, Microsoft has described it as one of Ignite’s most significant achievements in 2019 where ConfigMgr users can easily migrate to cloud-based device management.

Introducing a Web-Based Version of Microsoft Visual Studio

At its premiere developer conference Build held in May this year, Microsoft officially announced that the company will soon be launching a web-based version of the visual studio development environment. It is based on the work it has done on the free Visual Studio Code editor. The version is currently available in the preview state with enhanced integrations into the Microsoft-owned Github.

Microsoft has been trying for a long time to boost the experience of developers. It is to be noted that the online version of Visual Studio will not replace the desktop-based Integrated Development Environment (IDE). This will simplify their task while making quick changes to the GitHub code.  IDE does not have to be set up locally. They need a browser to get their job done.

New Privacy Features Added to Microsoft’s Chromium-based Edge

Another important announcement made from the center stage is the addition of new privacy features into Microsoft’s Chromium-based version of Edge. However, the new facility is slated to be available from January 15, 2020. At present, you can view the release candidate.

The addition of new privacy features along with Bing offers enhanced capabilities that put Microsoft ahead of its competitors such as the benefit of InPrivate browsing mode.

It is interesting to note that Microsoft has now diverted its attention to boosting security and privacy after improving speed. The company aims to bring back customers who have gone to use Chrome. However, it’s going to be an uphill task. Microsoft also expects Edge users will benefit from enhanced integrations and upgraded Bing engines.

Release of Power Virtual Agents

Microsoft has launched Power Virtual Agents, which is slated to serve as it’s new no-code or low-code tool for creating chatbots. It provides several Azure’s machines learning smart capabilities to build a chatbot with the help of the visual interface. Also, if you want to get the actual code, you can do so with ease.

Talking About Project Cortex – Key Announcements Made at Microsoft Ignite 2019, Chatbots aren’t new in the ASP.NET Development with the advent of machine learning and artificial intelligence technology. In fact, you can also build a chatbot using Visual and get a better understanding of what your users are looking for.

In A Nutshell

There have been a lot of major announcements at Microsoft’s keynote Ignite 2019 with the most important being the introduction of Project Cortex and EndPoint Manager. Moreover, the company has also worked a lot to improve the efficiency of Azure services and boost app security.
